Family Adventure Travel Is Made Easy With REI Adventures

One of the fastest growing segments of the travel industry is adventure travel. It seems more and more people are looking for unique and active travel options that don’t involve staying cloistered away in a resort or simply lounging on a beach somewhere. But sometimes adventure travel itineraries are specifically designed with the hardcore outdoor enthusiast in mind, making them particularly daunting for other members of the family. REI Adventures is changing that, however, by offering a host of options that the entire family can enjoy, while not skimping out on the most important part – the adventure.

In case you’re not already familiar with REI Adventures, it is the travel arm of the popular outdoor gear retailer. The company has been organizing trips to all corners of the globe for more than 25 years and has an extensive track record in adventure travel, including creating itineraries especially designed for the family. This year the company has introduced two new options to that line-up including a three- or five-day excursion to Zion and Bryce National Parks and a fabulous escape to the Greek Islands. The Zion and Bryce trip offers a hiking experience unlike any other, in which participants will spend their day exploring some of the most breathtaking landscapes of the American Southwest. In the evening, they’ll return to a comfortable base camp, complete with hot showers, toilets and their own personal chef. It is a classic family camping experience with a few extra amenities.

The Greek Islands Family excursion is a seven-day mix of history, culture and physical activity. Over the course of the week travelers will hike ancient trails, kayak in the waters of the Mediterranean and visit iconic sites like the Acropolis and Delos. They’ll also indulge in local foods, learn about Greek history and language, and soak up the local flavor in Mykonos and Santorini.

Like all family adventures from REI, these trips are designed to engage young minds and are tempered for the energy level of children. As an added bonus, all kids going on these trips also receive a free daypack to accompany them on their journey.

If you’re ready to start fostering a future adventurer, one of these trips just might be the ticket.
