Photo of the Day – Korean festival lanterns

I love taking photographs at festivals. The riotous colors, local costumes and friendly demeanor of locals usually means you’ll have a chance to capture some truly great shots. Take today’s photo for instance, captured by Flickr user Trent Strohm at a Buddha’s Birthday celebration in Seoul, Korea. The rainbow colors of the lanterns create a visually arresting pattern, punctuated by the curvy black outline of a tree, rising from below.

Taken any great travel shots of your own recently? Why not add them to our Gadling group on Flickr? We might just pick one of them as our Photo of the Day.

Photo of the Day (12.6.2009)

Today’s shot comes to us courtesy of Photo of the Day regular t3mujin, who captured this vibrant image during a trek near Sa Pa in Vietnam. Trying to take a picture of falling rain is no easy feat, but this photo manages to look “wet” simply through a great use of color. The verdant green hills, shrouded in mist, are complemented nicely by that extremely colorful rainbow umbrella.

Photo of the day (9-3-09)

I was rather impressed with yesterday’s Photo of the Day, and then this one came in that certainly rivals it.

This double rainbow was taken by andykee in Marham, UK. The dry, dirt road that meets up with the end of the rainbow sets this one apart.

Congratulations Andy on a magnificent capture.
