Booze Map Of USA

I was recently discussing German beer with a German tourist in New York City when I realized we’ve made it: the people of the USA have worked hard at and succeeded in creating a name for the country as a fine creator of booze. The tourist told me that breweries throughout the USA are now garnering international praise and I think many of them deserve the attention. In fact, many travelers these days traverse the states with the intention of sampling the beer, wine and liquor offered in the region. Some of the most famous booze companies (excluding winemakers) are outlined in this clever booze map of the USA by the folks at Thrillist. Aptly named “Red, White, and Booze,” this creative map is well done and symbolic of the great potential that lies within American Booze Tourism. A full-size version of this map can be viewed here.

Thanks, Thrillist.

Photo Of The Day: Moulin Rouge At Night

Today’s photo, by Flickr user Rob_Sanderson, is of one of the more (in)famous tourist landmarks in Paris: the Moulin Rouge. I love the long shutter exposure of Rob’s shot, which brings out the warm neon’s fiery reds, twinkling street lamplights and a whirling blur from of the club’s iconic windmill. The image gives off a feeling of wonderful nighttime energy and hijinks to come.

Photo Of The Day: Galapagos Crab

The unique diversity and one-of-a-kind wildlife of the Galapagos Islands makes it a hotspot for traveling nature lovers from around the globe. In today’s photo, taken by Flickr user wesleyrosenblum, we find a brilliant red crab in close-up on the island of Santiago. This eye-popping crustacean’s wild crimson and orange hue photographed against the otherworldly black volcanic rocks almost had me convinced I was looking at an alien on some distant planet.

Photo Of The Day: Standing On The Cliffs

Look out! It’s a long way down in today’s photo, brought to us by Flickr user Buck Forester. Similar to the shot Alex selected this past Friday, today’s photo was also taken along the gorgeous beaches of Kauai in Hawaii, just from an entirely different perspective. Instead of walking along this rugged island’s eye-popping shoreline, Buck takes us to another view high above the waves below, providing this colorful, vertigo-inducing look at the view from the top.

Photo Of The Day: The Wave In Utah

The amazing rock formation above, captured by Flickr user oilfighter, is called The Wave. Set near the border of Utah and Arizona, the intricate lines have been etched into the sandstone by millions of years of erosion and wind. It makes for a visually stunning setting doesn’t it? If you’re interested in seeing this amazing geological oddity in person, make sure to plan ahead – the Bureau of Land Management only allows 20 visitors per day in order to protect the site from damage.
