Family Survives Air Crash in Peru

Great (and tragic) story in today’s Daily
News
about a family from Brookleyn who survived a plane crash in the Amazon jungle in Peru. Membes of the Vivas
family of Coney Island were among 104 passengers and crew on the Boeing 737-200 flying from the capital of Lima to
Pucallpa when the plane went down in the dense jungle during a torrential downpour. At least 37 people died in the
crash, but a baby was saved when its cries were heard in the burning wreckage and Gabriel Vivas and another passenger
heard the infant crying and pulled it from the burning plane. Gnarly.
