Just look at the guy in this picture and tell me he doesn’t live in New York. That’s the sort of face you see
peering down at you while you’re lying in the trunk of a car just before you get whacked.
But no. This guy is no Soprano. He writes some of the best known, and well respected guides to the City, books filled
with intimate, investigated details, books that offer the kind of up-close and personal examination of the food,
stores, places, people of New York that you often do not find in mass-market guide books. So of course, this guy is
from the Big Apple. As I say, just LOOK at him.
Wrong. He lives in Oregon. And so goes the humorous
tale of Gerry Frank, author of Gerry Frank’s Guide to New York. The story tells Gerry’s tale, how he made it big in
the guide book biz, and how he finds Oregon the place to rest his weary self after weeks of exploring New York.
