Buy a House Earn Miles

A while back I did a post on ways you can spend your
frequent flier miles. Personally, I’ve cashed mine in for Starbucks coffee, restaurant.com gift certificates and free
magazine subscriptions. I tend to do this with airlines that I don’t fly very often, but have amassed some mileage on,
say, one big trip. It’s a good idea to spend this stuff because not only can you forget out it and over time lose the
mileage, but you  never know when the airline is going to decide to devalue your miles, as has happened with
several airlines over the last few years.

I am fascinated by the various plans the airlines have come up
with to both earn and spend miles. To wit: check out this interesting new program
from United and Lending Tree. Members who take out a mortgage, home equity loan, auto loan or who refinance or purchase
a home through LendingTree can earn thousands of miles on United.  Of course, whether all the thousands you earn
are worth anything when you eventually decide to travel, well, that’s a different matter.
