Spacewalk Surcharge

As if traveling to the International Space Station isn’t enough, space tourists can now opt for a spacewalk upgrade–for an additional $15 million.

Hey, if you’re already there, why not?

Space Adventures, in conjunction with the Russia’s Federal Space Agency, has already sent three Space Tourists into orbit for a reported $20 million each. The company is now offering the opportunity to step outside the space station and float around for a bit, providing the surcharge is paid in advance. It’s sort of like being on a cruise and paying extra for the onshore excursions (but without the opportunity to buy a Mexican sombrero).

The extraordinary cost is due, in part, to the additional month of training that is necessary and for the extra days that would be required to stay on board the space station.

I sure hope you get a floating chocolate above your pillow at these rates.
