The American Society of Travel Agents met earlier this week for a panel discussion on topics such
as travel scams and more so identity theft.
USA Today reports the panel is
more concerned with the increase of theft through spyware from seedy pop-up ads offering seemingly great vacation
deals, while actual travel-related fraud has decreased in the last few years. A few quick reference tips to
avoiding sharing your dream vacation and personal information with con-artists:
-
Remember nothing is free and if something states so, read the fine print.
-
Download spyware and get rid of those aggravating and sometimes dangerous pop-ups.
-
For the best buyer protection, pay by credit card.
