“Hello” in Every Langauge

Knowing even the most basic phrases in another language can immediately ingratiate you to the
locals. Even a simple hello in, say, Serbo-Croat, will get you grins and a handshake, and maybe even some bona-fide
help finding your way around. The big five languages are pretty easy: German, Spanish, Italian, French, Japanese…I
should probably also include Chinese. But what about Botunga?

Well, here’s a handy list of ways to say hello in
various languages. There are hundreds of them here from Armenian (Parev!) to Zulu: Sawubona. Maybe print this one out
and stuff it in your wallet. Might be nice to practice while you ride the subway.
