It’s that time of year again, monsoon season when the clouds swell up and deluge the poor inhabitants of the Indian subcontinent with Biblical rains. Every year there are tragedies, but scientists are saying this is one of the worst in a while.
News reports today are saying that at least 99 people have been killed by the recent rains, which caused massive landslides, brought Bombay to a standstill (which is not that had to do), and nearly demolished an entire village beneath a wall of mud. In Bombay, the forecast is for continued heavy rains and high winds, after a record 37 inches of rain fell in the city yesterday, the highest amount of rainfall since 1974. So if you have made the decision to travel to India this month, beware. It’s wet. And dangerous.
