I don’t think we’ve ever mentioned the stylish
Travel 001 here at
Gadling. The 50’s themed shops (in SF, NY and now LA)
carry a retro collection of funky travel stuff.
From 1942 to 1984, Pan Am’s Flight 001 was THE flight
to take — from SF west, with stops in Honolulu, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Delhi, Beirut, Istanbul, Frankfurt, London,
before finally ending in NY.
Unfortunately, the glamorous vibe that these stores portray does not exist in America’s struggling airline industry
today. But Flight 001’s smart design and bucket load of trendy gear beckons us to daydream that air travel may one day
be the IT thing again.
Because their products can be pricey, I decided to bargain shop their “Final Boarding” online exclusive sale items
to see what gems I could find. Here are some cool markdowns for this month: the
Bon
Voyage book (reduced to $14.99), a Nomadic
Nylon Handbag (reduced to $14.99), and the very necessary
Travel Boggle (reduced to $9.99).
