Has anyone checked out the Adventure Travel Expo in NY this weekend? It started
Thursday with a trade day for industry folks, and is open to the general public today and tomorrow. I’ll be roaming the
exhibit hall for a few hours tomorrow, you may see me hauling my backpack around or trying to catch Arthur Frommer’s
travel tips session. Tomorrow’s seminars also include topics such as ecotourism in the Galapagos, cycling in Greece and
going on safari in Africa. It’s fun to just walk the room, observing the latest and greatest travel trends and tours,
everyone telling you that their destination is THE place to go to in 2006. I’ll snoop longer in the European and Asian
areas, hoping to gather some ideas for things I can do on my tight budget in the next year. I often take the brochures
for the higher-end tours just so I can see what they offer…and then use that to develop my own travel plans. The expo
runs till 6 p.m. today and is on from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow.
