I came
across this book when reading the author’s essay "How to Find Your Way" in the February 2006 issue of Real Simple magazine. Elizabeth
Gilbert’s essay is not available online, but it’s a great read, especially if you are a wonderlust traveler with a
tendancy to get lost quite often. Grab a copy of the mag when you can. I learned that Gilbert has a new book out next
month: Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia is the story of her
solo journey to three places where she could "…examine one aspect of her own nature set
against the backdrop of a culture that has traditionally done that one thing very well." She headed to Rome for
language lessons and plently of delicious food, to India for spiritual exploration and to Bali to study with an elderly
medicine man. This memoir of self-discovery is described as, "…what can happen when you claim
responsibility for your own contentment and stop trying to live in imitation of society’s ideals." Ahh…the
power of food, prayer, love and travel — Amen to that!
