I’m not too particular about the roof over my head while traveling. As long as I
have one, and it doesn’t leak, it’s usually good enough for me. I’ve always believed that money
blown on really expensive accommodations can be far better spent on nice restaurants, cultural events, or countless
other activities that I can enjoy during my conscious hours.
Of course, I don’t want to sleep in a dump, either.
That’s why I’m always excited to run across articles that highlight cheap
accommodations that offer great value. This short bit in Time Magazine covers a nice selection of boutique
hotels that range from a scant $45 in London (!!!!!) to an impressive $125 in New York.
Not only do the roofs not leak, but judging from the photos (in the print edition only) they actually seem quite
marvelous.
But don’t tell my friends in New York and London, however. Their couches are still free and
that’s a good enough deal for me.
