Surf Parks

The recent piece on Ski Area in Dubai seemed to raise the hackles of many
a Gadling visitor. It is one of the more vigorously debated pieces we’ve had here in a while. Some people seem to think
it is a colossal waste that anyone would think of building a ski hill in  a place God deemed worthy of only sand.
But lets take a look at another effort to do God’s work, as it were. Or at least an effort for people who can’t go to
the beach, perhaps, who bring the beach to them.

Check out surfparks.com, a
company that manufactures, well, surf…or surf parks. I have to say, I think the idea is rather fasciating. The
company will open the first surf park in Orlando, a decidedly land-locked city that brings in legions of touristts for
the city’s other resort areas. A nice place to start, even if Orlando is, in my opinion, the blighted capitol of
tourism gone awry.
