Spirit of Snow

Give a quick look at this great video
trailer for a film
called Spirit of Snow. It’s short but sweet, and a great way to waste a minute of your
time…maybe during lunch. The full film can be purchased on DVD from Lenticular Pictures, a small production company
that has done several films on outdoor topics.

Many of the films can be sampled on the site and make for decent, albeit brief, enjoyment.

Peter Potterfield’s Favorite Hikes

Peter Potterfield, the writer, journalist, hiker
has written a book
about his favorite hikes in the wrold. Potterfield was a co-founder of Mountainzone…the well-done outdoors site that
used to be much better btw, pre-dot com bust.

He is hoping his new book “Classic Hikes of the
World
,” a coffee-table-style guide to 23 of what he considers the greatest backpacking trips on the planet, will
catch on with readers who are looking for some great adventures. The book is done in coffee-table style with great
photos and lots of information about the world’s greatest hikes.

I can’t wait to get my hands on this.

The Beau Rive

“Escape for Real,” is the motto of this lovely six guest room hotel located on Dominica’s east coast. In short, the Beau Rive will offer accommodation for the senses. Listen to the birds, the sea, the forest and let your eyes feast upon the island’s beauty with ocean views from every room. When touring the Beau Rive’s web site at first you may want turn your nose up at the cost and what it has to offer, but it makes tons of practical sense. Don’t go looking for mini-bars, cable TV, or room service at all hours of the night, because in striving to be different the Beau Rive does without them. Instead you can walk through the citrus and spice gardens or on the forest trail to the Richmond River. Think of it as paying for your own piece of paradise that hasn’t been tourist invaded and real down-to-earth hospitality from the staff.

Before you go, check out some interesting facts about the island provided by Dominica’s Tourism site found here.

New England Paddlesports Show

Well, it’s that time again.

Spring is upon us and paddlers from all over are coming out from their winger hibernation, rubbing their eyes and
stretching their limbs as they prepare to hit the water. And as we speak, up in New England they are gathering for the
2005 New England Paddlesports Show. It is going on TODAY, up
at the University of New Hampshire. It is said to be one of the best opportunities of the year to purchase a
kayak or canoe.

All the big names are there.  Old Town Canoe, Perception Kayak, Wilderness Systems, Necky Kayak.

Anyone go? I’d love to hear how it went.
