Gadling CityScapes: Prague

A little notice: Tomorrow we’re doing our second Gadling CityScapes feature picking up where we
left off with New York and taking you to Prague, in the Czech Republic. This city is dear to my heart personally
because some of my very good friends are from there, and I was there fairly recently for a wedding of a good friend.
Like we did with New York City in our first CityScapes day-long feature, we’ll be covering all aspects of Prague,
from dining, to hotels, to things to do and, well, pretty much everything. So check in tomorrow. It should be cool.

Barry Corbet Film Festival

I have become something of a devotee to the Alpinist. It’s a great magazine
dedicated to everything climbing. It’s hard core, but beautifully designed and written. And I just got a cool heads up
about an event that the climberati might be interested in. The Barry Corbet
Film Festival
honors the eponymous Jackson Hole legend by bringing some of
the best climbing, surfing, boarding films from all over to Jackson, Wyoming on January 19-21 next year. Add this one
to your calendar now.

Photo of the Day: (10/30/05)

I was clikcing through the gadling Flickr site, which
always has a wide array of great shots (and to which ANYONE can contribute…so please do!) and I discovered
this amazing shot of the Cordillera Huaywash, in the Andes in Peru. Taken by
norcalhiker, this photo is
breath-takingly beautiful. And what amazed me is that it seems to have been taken by a regular old Fuji point and click
camera.

Backpacking America

If you are an avid backpacker, but are stuck on where to go for your next great adventure, you might head over to
Backpacker Magazine which has got a guide to the
Best Backpacking in America.

It is navigable by state, and offers a little write up for each spot.
California’s includes the John
Muir Trail, which I suppose I agree with, although I would have liked to see a few more for that state given that there
is so much excellent hiking there as opposed to, say,
Nebraska (just messing with ya,
Nebraskans, I know there are many good spots in the state).

Jiggling San Francisco

You probably
couldn’t have chosen a better city to
make out of Jell-o than San Francisco. I
mean, if there’s a city that jiggles, SF would be it. And you have to give a lot of credit to this project (in
that odd way that we give plaudits to things that make you say, Wow, how did they do that? Followed
immediately by WHY did they do that?). But hey, you cannot deny this is intriguing.

What you are looking at is a work by Elizabeth Hickok that takes the downtown area of The City, and turns it to
Jell-o. The photos are very cool…and damn colorful. And if you want to see a little jiggling, you must catch the
short video.
