Friday Funny: McSweeneys

I am a regular fan/reader of McSweeneys, but I confess I saw this first over at Worldhum, and so they should get some link love. But it’s Friday, and it’s beautiful outside here in NYC. The radio said this morning that there is no humidity. Imagine that. A summer day in the Big Apple and there is no humidity. Almost makes you want to go outside.

Alas, there will be no outdoor frolic for me .Not yet anyway. Because I have to work, and more I have to come up with the Friday Funny. Well, Gadling readers, this one is a real wicked gut-buster. You know that whole hullabaloo about several major papers reporting on terrorist bank accounts, and how that got some people really angry? Well, I’ll not get into all the politics of that…this is a travel blog ,after all. But do take a look at this hilarious ditty over at McSweeneys that takes on the absurdity of the debate with a bit of tongue in cheek faux-journalism.

Friday Funny: What’s With the Germans?

As a friend of mine pointed out in a recent email, yes, the Germans may be a soccer powerhouse, but when it comes to taste, well, they are probably not going to finish up high in a World Cup of Culture anytime soon. What evidence do I muster to make such an argument?

Well, I urge you to watch, if just for a brief moment (because you wil not likely be able to stomach more), what horrors the Germans hath wrought by so avidly supporting one of our very own. Yes, we are complicit in the creation of the Hasselhoff phenom, but in the end, it is the Germans who have allowed him to flourish.

Friday Funny: Simpsons Gag

OK, not quite travel-related, inless you consider moving at light-speed through time, matter and the universe travel. Hey, I guess I do. Sort of a mixture of that wonderful factor of ten film and, well, cartoon comedy. Anyway, really good stuff, and Simpsons stuff to boot. Give it a click.

Friday Funny: The Singhsons

As if the Simpsons itself isn’t funny enough (probably the funniest, best show in the history of television IMHO), sometimes the Simpson satires are also a hoot. We posted about the real-life Simpsons from Britain a while back, a creepy, amazingly accurate flesh and bones version of the intro. Now take a look at a Simpsons knock off from India. Called The Singhsons, even Apu is gong to giggle at this one.
