Daily gear deal- Kodak Zi6 Pocket HD Camcorder for $99 (refurbished)

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is for a camera I reviewed last year – the Kodak Zi6 pocket handheld HD camcorder.

This camera can record video at 720p, and 60 frames per second, which equals “real HD”.

The device has 128MB of built in memory, and an SD(HC) card slot, so you will have to invest a little more in a memory card if you plan to record more than a few minutes of content.

The camera runs off AA batteries, and a charger with 2 AA’s is included. To transfer the video off the Zi6, you simply flip the integrated USB connector out the side, and plug it into your PC. The included software allows for easy transfers to Youtube.

The Kodak Zi6 normally retails for $179, but is currently on sale through Amazon for just $99.99 with free shipping. This low price does mean you’ll be getting a refurbished version of the camera.

Daily gear deal – Samsung portable DVD drive for $50

by Scott Carmichael on

Today’s daily gear deal is perfect for Netbook owners – by now you’ll have realized that your Netbook does not come with a DVD drive, and that in fact, no Netbook on the market is equipped with one.

That is all fine, until you run into a situation where you really need to get something off a disc, or have to reinstall one of your programs.

This Samsung slim-line DVD recorder is powered using the USB ports on your machine, and can read (and record) on CD’s and DVD’s. It even comes complete with the highly rated NERO disc burning suite.

The retail price is currently $59.99, but when you pop on over to Newegg.com and add promotional code EMCLSMN65 during the checkout process, it’ll take $10 off, bringing this drive down to just $49.99. To make the deal even sweeter, Newegg will ship it for free!

Daily gear deal – $50 off Etymotic Research HF5 noise isolating headphones

by Scott Carmichael on

Noise isolating headphones are a travelers best friend – they are compact, easy to pack, and don’t require batteries. And affordable noise isolating headphones don’t get much better than the Etymotic Research HF5’s.

Not only do these headphones look awesome, they are available in three different colors and deliver fantastic sound quality and noise isolation.

The Etymotic Research HF5’s normally retail for $149, but Amazon is selling them for just $99.99 after you apply a $50 off coupon code. After you have added the color you want to your shopping cart, simply apply coupon code CED3JMZB during checkout.

The HF5’s come complete with a variety of earpieces, a cleaning tool, shirt clip and a carrying pouch.

Daily gear deal – Swiss Clipper airport friendly multitool for $23

by Scott Carmichael on

Today’s gear deal is for the new Wenger Swiss Clipper AT multi tool.

This airport friendly tool complies with all TSA regulations, and in the special “AT” version, the knife has been removed, and replaced with a mini screwdriver. You also get a pair of scissors, a nail file and (for the first time on any Swiss knife), a nail clipper.

Of course, you also get the signature toothpick and tweezers hidden away in the handles.

The Swiss Clipper AT normally retails for about $30, but is available from Buy.com for just $22.99 (plus $7 shipping). Clip this thing onto your key chain, and you’ll always have 7 handy tools with you.

That said – I do recommend carrying a copy of the TSA regulations with you, as the agency has a nasty habit of making up rules at the checkpoint, and you are bound to eventually run into a checkpoint worker who will tell you to surrender your dangerous weapon.

Daily gear deal – Samsung WEP200 Bluetooth headset for $10 (after rebate)

by Scott Carmichael on

Today’s gear deal is for the highly rated Samsung WEP200 Bluetooth headset.

This headset is absolutely tiny – but has surprisingly good sound quality. In fact, it is currently one of the highest rated headsets on Amazon.

The WEP200 comes complete with a carrying case/charger and a variety of earpieces.

The headset is on sale for $19.99, but after a $10 mail in rebate (scroll down for the rebate PDF file), it drops to just $9.99. The rebate is valid on purchases made until May 31st.
