Today’s POTD comes from a Flickr account. I’m now somewhat addicted to searching taqgs on Flickr to see what comes
up. Scuba’s a no-brainer and there are some nice pics out there.
This one, of Snappers at the Yongala Wreck Dive in
Australia, was one I liked a lot.
Wrecks by GPS
Dive sites can be rough to find, but it gets easier when you can find dive sites by GPS coordinates.
Divingdestinations.net has got just that. So far they
have 515 sites in their database including a ton of wrecks…which is kind of the point of diving with GPS in the first
place.

Today’s POTD is of an
animal that seems to come out of some science fiction book. The sea horse here was taken by Roberto Sozzani and
shows a new species of Pygmy Seahorse.
Tsunami’s Environmental Toll
The tsunamis caused some of the worst human casualties in recent
memory, but what was the effect on the environment? NPR’s expeditions, which always
does such a superb job, takes a look at the
environmental toll of the tsunamis and scientists are discovering the role of natural systems in mitigating damage.
Take a listen.
Divester: the Diving Blog
Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce to you a fine new blog all
about scuba diving. It’s called Divester and it is the newest addition to the
Weblogs Inc. family. This is going to be an AMAZING blog with posts about everything you ever wanted to know about
scuba diving. We’ll review dive sites (both virtual and real), dive equipment, dive
photography…you name it, if it relates to scuba diving,
we’ll cover it.
The site will feature the wit and wisdom of folks such as Cosimo Leipold, diver fanatic, diving
videographer/photographer. And Erik Olsen (me) also an avid diver. Take a moment and check it out. And send any
comments about what you might want to see on the site.
