Sort of like Where on Earth?… but not quite

This isn’t a regular Where on Earth? feature, but the concept is the same nonetheless. Gadling reader Brooke sent us an email this morning with a link to photo of an unknown cityscape. “We are having real trouble at work figuring out which city this is,” she said. “Do you have anyone that can help us?”

So there it is, Gadling readers. You’re quickly being known across the Internet as the Group That Can Identify Any Location, so don’t let me down! The only difference here is I don’t have the correct answer, so any supporting information (other pictures, maybe?) you have to prove your guess should be included!

Where on Earth? Week 22

It’s Week 22 for Where on Earth and we’ve stumped you only one time so far – that’s less than half a percent success rate on our end. Pathetic!

So, it’s time to step it up.

I’ll wager that no one nails the location of this bizarre row of statues. We’ll settle for a city on this one, but bonus points will be awarded if you can identify the site itself.

Insert your wild guesses below in the comments section and come back on Friday for the answer.

Where on Earth Week 21: Bow Lake, Alberta

I wasn’t sure if this picture had enough clues for anyone to get it, but you guys have definitely impressed me. Congratulation to Jim, who successfully guessed that this is a picture of Bow Lake, Alberta. I’ve visited this gorgeous spot several times in my life — it’s located along the picturesque Icefields Parkway, connecting Jasper to Lake Louise. If you’re planning a visit to the Rockies, I highly recommend at least a photo-stop at Bow Lake, and if you have time, stay over at Num-Ti-Jah Lodge, a charmingly rustic inn on the shores of this emerald lake.

By the way, this may have been taken in June, but it’s not always this snowy and miserable. When the sun’s out, you can see that the lake is the most amazing shade of green.

Where on Earth? Week 21

Here’s a photo I took a while back and I’m not sure if it will stump our readers or not. There aren’t many clues except for the mountains themselves and perhaps the water, but I will tell you that this photo was taken in June

Any guesses? The location will be revealed on Friday.

Where on Earth Week 20: Adršpach-Teplice Rocks – Czech Republic

Well done neil_metblogs. You covered absolutely all the bases to give a correct answer. The “Rock Towns” of Adršpach and Teplice in Northern Bohemia aren’t as well known as the similar sandstone formations further west in the Cesky Raj region of the Czech Republic, but for my money they’re actually more spectacular.

While researching the latest edition of Lonely Planet’s Czech & Slovak Republics book I had the chance to check both regions out. Despite it being April, there was still a lot of snow on the ground – especially when I trekked the 3km trail along Wolf Gorge that joins the Adršpach and Teplice regions.

Lucky I could dive into the Pension Skaly for beer and schnitzel. Sometimes the simple things in life are the best.
