Photo Of The Day: Shoreside Leaves

This Photo of the Day comes from Gadling Flickr pool member James Wheeler who captured the image using a Nikon D5000 and is titled “Shoreside Leaves.”

In describing this image, James tells us, “The leaves near this creek were wet from the rain the night before, which also made the creek swell for this photo.”

To end up with this image, James used a Tokina 12-24mm f/4 lens on his Nikon D5000 mounted on a Slik Sprint Pro Tripod then worked it through Adobe Photoshop and Nik Color Efex Pro.

I like this image of a cabin in the woods, despite its slight seasonal dissonance, because it resembles a scrapbook image. “This is Terry in front of that awesome cabin right before she spied a moose and freaked out,” it could be annotated.

There comes a moment in every great voyage when one finds the need to sit and reflect. That sentiment is captured perfectly by Flickr user Jason Rodman in today’s Photo of the Day. Taken on a recent trip to Basel, the image depicts the Statue of Helvetia, mother of Switzerland, as she contemplates life from a perch overlooking the Rhine at sunset.
