Photo of the Day (5/7/09)

This shot by danner00 at an undisclosed location caught my eye. I’m not sure if it’s been altered, but I like it either way. It looks to be the Pelican version of a “missing man formation.”

The use of black and white brings out the contrast in the picture. Nice capture, danner00!

Tickets to Germany have been on super sale for the past few weeks, as they normally are this time of the year. The problem is that most budget tickets are into Frankfurt, which hasn’t got a ton of exciting tourist attractions. Luckily, a variety of beautiful cities like Cologne are nearby, where the above picture of the Kölner Dom was taken by rafapdalbem1. Neat shot.

Here’s a landmark from CaptBrando that’s one of the most famous in the world. If it isn’t immediately recognizable to you, try looking from a different angle.

I like the decision to make this shot black and white. Maybe it focuses more of our attention on the texture instead of the colors. Take a look at some of his other pictures, you just might be impressed. They’re not all of the Sydney Opera house, but many are just as stunning.
