The destination in this shot is obviously the sky and the main attractions are the clouds. Are you with me still? With a touch of color atomtigerzoo has managed to create one explosive looking picture of a place many of may only see from the ground and some by plane. It’s no bird, no plane – just boom.

Look in the sky – it’s a bird, it’s a plane… Yes, yes, it is a plane, but look at those clouds! Today’s POTD comes from Patrick Powers who notes that the previous day’s rain showers created some “wicked clouds” over Redwood Shores in California. The plane looks so tiny like it is going to be swallowed by the fat fluffy clouds within seconds. I’m also willing to bet there was some wicked turbulence flying around clouds like that.
Orange and brown are two of my favorite colors, so it is easy to understand why my eyes took such a fancy to this shot taken from an airplane as Patrick Powers took off and away from the Hawaiian islands. At first glance you’d think it was a fiery sunset over gently rolling waves in the Pacific, but it’s really a sunset captured at 35,000 feet. Mind-boggling when you think about it – don’t you agree? Fabulous work on Patrick’s behalf and I hope to see more in the Gadling Flickr Pool.
