Photo Of The Day: Melbourne Alleyway

This Photo of the Day, titled “Melbourne Alleyway,” comes from Gadling Flickr pool member Peter Rood (aka pkorsmok) and was captured using a Sony NEX-5N.

The image appears as part of Rood’s Melbourne set on Flickr accompanied by the caption:
“Found this cool alley while exploring central Melbourne. The amazing color covers the walls up at least 30′ as well as the ground.”

Photo Of The Day: Perched Above Guatemala

A view from a ridiculously good vantage point can forge a lifelong memory. This spot above Lake Atitlan in western Guatemala, shot by Shuo Huang, really sets the standard for others to be compared to. This volcanic lake is what adventures are built around and make weeks on the road, battling loneliness and cramped conditions in cross-country buses completely worth it.

Shuo submitted his photo to us through Instagram by mentioning @GadlingTravel and using the #Gadling tag. If you’d like your exciting travel photography to be featured as our Photo Of The Day, do the same or submit it to our Gadling Flickr Pool. Be sure to check out more of Shuo’s phenomenal photos on Instagram here and don’t forget to give us a follow too!

Follow Gadling In Spain This Week On The Instagrant

It’s my turn on the helm of Instagram this week, which is great news because I’m traveling through a southern swath of Spain. Expect plenty of photos from Seville and Granada as I wander between cities, awkwardly bumping between glasses of Rioja and dishes of paella.

In case you missed it, we’re in the opening weeks of our Instagram feed launch, and we’re leaning on some of our well-traveled bloggers to populate the feed. Stay tuned for dispatches from Maui, Paris, Cabo and even Afghanistan over the coming weeks, and travel vicariously through our team.

Meanwhile, check out our Instagram page over on instagram.com/gadlingtravel.

Salud!

Photo Of The Day: Wine Tasting

What makes you enter an unfamiliar shop in a new city? An inviting window display? A big crowd (or lack thereof)? How about a funny sign like this Brooklyn shop, which advertises, “delicious free booze poured by a crazy French guy”? They had me at “delicious” and “free” wine; the French guy is just icing on the cake. It helps that the store looks cozy and friendly; the sign helps to show off their personality.

Share your favorite travel signs for the Photo of the Day by adding to the Gadling Flickr pool or tagging us on Instagram.

Photo Of The Day: The Treasury At Petra

“Indiana Jones would be proud,” wrote Instagram user shuotography in the caption for today’s Photo of the Day. Yes, we think he would. Taken at the Treasury in the ancient city of Petra, Jordan, this photo was enhanced with Instagram’s “Lo-Fi” filter, which adds shadows and makes colors richer. While no one knows for certain, the Treasury, known in Arabic as al-Khazneh, is believed to have been a temple or royal tomb. Definitely Indiana-esque.Do you have any great adventure travel photos? You now have two options to enter your snapshots into the running for Gadling’s Photo of the Day. Upload your shots to the Gadling Flickr Pool, or mention @GadlingTravel and use hashtag #gadling in the caption or comments for your post on Instagram. Don’t forget to give us a follow too!
