Daily deal – Panasonic iPod Bluetooth wireless headphones for $25

My daily deal for today is great if you hate wires.

The Panasonic RP-BT10 iPod Bluetooth headphones allow you to listen to music on your iPod using the included wireless transmitter and Bluetooth headphones/remote.

Cutting the wires from your iPod is actually smarter than you think; it allows you to store your iPod out of sight, and without showing off your player, you might reduce the risk of someone attempting to steal it.

The RP-BT10 package includes the iPod Bluetooth transmitter, a Bluetooth receiver/remote, Panasonic in-ear headphones and a USB/AC charger.

The Bluetooth transmitter works on all dock-connector iPod models, but not on the iPod Touch or the iPhone. The music is transmitted using Stereo Bluetooth, so it will sound as close to the original audio as possible.

The Bluetooth receiver has a regular headphone jack, so if you already have better headphones, you can simply plug those into it.

iStik magnetic iPod case now available for the new iPod Nano

Back in September I reviewed the iStik magnetic iPod case. Of course, at the rate Apple releases new players, it was only a matter of time until the cases I reviewed became obsolete, so iStik worked hard on getting cases designed for the newest player.

The iStik case for the 4th generation iPod nano is now available to order, and will ship this Friday.

The case features the same magnetic clip system as the one I reviewed and costs $24.99 plus $2.99 for shipping.

As a quick refresher, the iStik case consists of a polycarbonate case for your iPod, and a plastic back plate with super strong magnets to hold the case in place on your jacket or other garment.

Daily deal – 16GB iPod Touch (1st gen) for $199

In the market for an iPod? Then my daily deal for today might be the best way to prevent having to stand in line at your local superstore.

This 16GB iPod Touch is the “previous generation”, but with the exception of a few minor cosmetic changes, not much was updated between this one and the new one.

The current generation 16GB iPod touch still retails for $278, but you can pick up this first generation version for a mere $199!

Of course, there is one small thing I need to point out; this unit ships with the previous version of the iPod software, and to take advantage of all the newest features, you’ll have to pay Apple an additional $9.95. Even after this fee, you are still saving quite a lot of money by going with a slightly older model.

The 16GB iPod touch ships for free, and comes with a USB cable, headphones and a dock insert.

Product Review: iHome iP27 Portable Speaker System

If you’re tired of being reduced to earphones to get your iPod groove on while travelling, Apple has come up with a new solution. The iP27 is the newest version of the iHome speaker line, a docking station that plays music directly from your iPod.

The iP27 has a nifty alarm clock functionality that allows you to wake up to your favorite tunes, along with remote volume and play/pause control. The speakers themselves fold down flat and slide into a carrying case, so all in all, the system is really geared for travelers.

The cons to this system are that the speakers lack a lot of bass, compromising the sound quality; and as well, there is no radio function (for those few times you want to catch up on your foreign news?). I’ve also heard that some older versions of iPod aren’t compatible, but the Nanos and iPhones work just fine.

On the upside, the unit has an AA battery option and a downsized AC cord, so it’s a bit sleeker and less space-consuming than it’s iHome counterpart. Users of the iH27 probably won’t notice too many differences in the two units.

Rationally, I can’t think of any traveler that would actually use this unit, much less want to carry it around all over the place in their luggage. Definitely a geek-ified piece of equipment, but it will probably find its cult following.
