Photo Of The Day: Sunset In Grenada

This Photo of the Day, titled “Sunset in Grenada,” comes from Gadling Flickr pool member Gus NYC who captured the image using an Olympus E-PL1.

Grenada, also known as the “Island of Spice” because of the production of nutmeg and mace crops, is an island country consisting of the island of Grenada and six smaller islands at the southern end of the Grenadines in the southeastern Caribbean Sea.

Grenada is 344 square kilometers (133 square miles) with an estimated population of 110,000 and is located northwest of Trinidad and Tobago, northeast of Venezuela and southwest of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

For more information on Grenada, one of our 10 budget-friendly Caribbean destinations see Elizabeth Seward’s “Exploring Grenada: Do As Locals Do” here on Gadling.

Photo Of The Day: Bangladesh Street Scene

This Bangladesh street scene, taken in 2008 by Flickr user m24instudio, jumped out at me on the Gadling Group Pool page on Flickr. Currently, next to it on the page are photos of flowers, animals, skylines, an island and snowy panoramas. None of these popped off the page quite so intensely as the above image. The colors, the signage, the handbills, the greenery in the background and the advertisements are all terribly vibrant.

Upload your favorite images of colorful street scenes (or absentminded cyclists, for that matter) to the Gadling Group Pool on Flickr. We choose our favorites from the pool to be Photos of the Day.

Photo Of The Day: Easter Island P.D.

Spring is in full swing and Easter and Passover are coming this weekend. Looking for something seasonally appropriate, I searched the Gadling Flickr pool but instead of Easter the holiday, I found images of Easter the Island. This shot by davitydave especially caught my eye, showing the uniformed (and probably Chilean) Easter Island police looking rather stern and serious with their incredible and unusual view. I wonder what their “beat” is like? Do they see much action other than rowdy tourists and the occasional protest? Hey officers, I see some shady looking characters loitering down at the water.

Add your travel photos to the Gadling Flickr pool to be featured on another Photo of the Day.

Photo Of The Day: Arches Of The Golden Gate Bridge

San Francisco
‘s Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most photographed landmarks in the world, but it might take a few minutes before you recognize her in today’s Photo of the Day from Flickr user Jason Rodman. Is that a chic lounge? A minimalist sauna? A macro shot of Lego blocks? The image’s contrast and perspective play tricks on your eyes until you finally recognize the iconic red arches.

Rodman says that the image was taken from the sunroof of his car. “I was behind the wheel but taking advantage of a traffic jam up ahead. Once I saw that traffic was stopped, out came the camera.”

Do you have a shape-shifting travel photograph that belongs here? Upload your favorite shots to the Gadling Group Pool and your image could be selected as our Photo of the Day.

Video Of The Day: Bear Dances In The Woods

Spring is here, which means we’ll all be heading back onto hiking trails and into the woods for camping trips. Of course, we’re not the only species taking advantage of everything nature has to offer. We share trails, forests and just about everything else with all manner of animals big and small. Thanks to a well-placed camera, we can now see what happens in the woods when we’re not there. As expected, it’s all dance parties, popping and locking. After sleeping for months, you’d be ready to bust a move, too!
