This Photo of the Day, titled “Winter Wonderland,” comes from Gadling Flickr pool member mjlacey who captured the image using a Canon PowerShot S100.

“When the sun comes out, it’s nice weather, whatever the temperature! (-12 °C on this particular morning),” says mjlacey of the image, which can also be found in their “Sweden” set.

Photo Of The Day: Sunrise, Hua Hin Beach

This Photo of the Day is for anyone already tired of winter and looking forward to spring. Titled “Sunrise, Hua Hin Beach” the photo comes from Gadling Flickr pool member Nancie (Ladyexpat) and is part of a set of 27 images captured earlier this month.

Hua Hin is a popular Thailand seaside beach resort about 200 km south of Bangkok.

Photo Of The Day: What’s In Your Bag?

Feeling nosy? Then you might enjoy today’s Photo of the Day. Flickr user and designer Lacko Illustration provided an extremely detailed look inside his bag. There’s even a legend on the bottom to accompany the objects in case you can’t tell from the photo. Judging from the razor blades and Glock drives, he probably doesn’t take this on planes, but it’s still fun to look inside someone else’s bag, especially an artist. There are some fun details to find, like some “zombie bait” and Lacko’s own “Chewie is my Co-Pilot” sticker.

Photo Of The Day: Urban Decay In Cuba

Oi from Rio de Janeiro, where I’m traveling and soaking up some serious holiday sun. Staying at a guest house in bohemian Santa Teresa, I got to talking to artists and curators from all over the world the other night about cities. We talked about cities going through urban renewal and creative renaissance, such as here in Rio, Berlin, Havana, and even Detroit. The meaning of the phrase “ruin porn” made sense across multiple languages and cultures, and how popular that type of photography is with travelers. Today’s Photo of the Day shows some urban “decay” in Cuba‘s Havana, but I wouldn’t call it a ruin. It’s a more hopeful image; we can imagine that it’s not a decaying building, but a house in transition. The fraying image of the Cuban woman and the colored buildings are proof that someone tried to make it beautiful.
