Top Ten Restaurants You Can Take a Boat To

Steve Stephens, one of the travel writers for the Columbus Dispatch, wrote an article that waxes poetic about restaurants with docks. You don’t have to be a boater to eat at one; driving a car to one will do. He mentions three as personal recommedations since these are the ones he has tried. There are ten others listed by Discover Boating as the best restaurants for pulling up to a dock, hopping out of a boat and finding a great meal.

Here’s Stephen’s personal list:

  1. Gordon Biersch at Aloha Tower Marketplace on Honolulu Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaii-He’s eaten the garlic fry here.
  2. Whitecaps Restaurant in Petoskey, Michigan on Little Traverse Bay–He says try the sirloin and a glass of cabernet
  3. St. Hazard’s Bar on Middle Bass Island on Put-in-Bay in northern Ohio. Here he drank Coronas.

Here’s the list to add to Stephen’s three. One of them, Cousino’s Navy Bistro on the Maumee River is in Toledo, Ohio. These restaurants aren’t ranked from best to worst or the other way around. Think of them in any order you want.

The other nine are:

  1. Bali Hai Restaurant, San Diego, California
  2. Captain Dave’s Dockside Restaurant in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina
  3. Carrol’s Creek in Annapolis, Maryland
  4. Dockside Restaurant in Wilmington, North Carolina
  5. Finz Waterfront Grille in Stuart, Florida
  6. Flatwater in Chicago, Illinois
  7. Rafferty’s Dockside Restaurant in Muskegon, Michigan
  8. Rockafeller’s in Virginia Beach, Virginia
  9. Waterway Café in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (The restaurant in the photo, taken by airwaves1 and posted on Flickr.)
