Hungry hippo? I’d say so. Then again it could be just a little aggravated by the camera and every thing else looking down its throat. The teeth look dull like old rotten wood, but I’ll let you do the investigating. Nice in your mouth animal shot ohad*.

If this isn’t a precious moment, then I don’t know what is… Captured by Jason Bechtel while strolling through the Chicago Zoo, this ape seems to be paying no mind to anyone though I’m sure there were many staring with big bright eyes at the sleeping animal. I’d say this is a perfect example of how I’d like to be spending my own Saturday afternoon, but the call of duty keeps me up and awake unlike this ape.

Summer is now a thing of the past folks, unless you’re living someplace like Florida where Fall scenes like the one above are a hard find. Anyhow, it’s time to bundle up, grab the cold weather clothes, roll around in the leaves and prepare for the snow. For now we’ll concentrate on rolling and playing in the leaves as this shot taken by ohad at Washington DC’s Smithsonian National Zoo makes me want to plunge right in. Very colorful!
Hungarian Zoo Apes Love Their Red Wine
From Yahoo!News: Monkeys and other zoo apes at the Budapest zoo have a thing for the grape — turns out, they drink their way through 55 litres of red wine each year, according to a statement released by the zoo on Monday. The reason? It helps boost their red blood cells.
“Obviously, they do not have it all at once and get drunk, but they get it in small amounts mixed in their tea,” said Budapest Zoo spokesman Zoltan Hanga. He continued: “And it’s not Eger Bulls Blood or some expensive wine that they are getting but simple table wine, as it’s mainly good for their blood cells.”
They don’t have it all at once — how disappointing. Because soused monkeys?
Now THAT would be a tourist attraction.
