Listen to the Quiet American

You are about to enter a dimension not only of sight and sound, but
of mind…no wait. Sorry. Scratch that. Just sound. But that’s cool enough I think. Aaron Ximm’s
fantastic Quiet American site features this wonderful
selection of sounds from abroad called One Minute Vacations.
As the site itself puts it:

One-minute vacations are unedited recordings of somewhere, somewhen. Sixty seconds of something else. Sixty
seconds to be someone else.

They put up a new minute clip about every week, so there’s a fair selection of interesting material. And the files
are short, so they’re pretty small, ranging from just 1 – 2 meg, easily downloaded by anyone on a fast
connection. So if you can spare a minute (which you obviously can if you’re reading this) go to this site and
listen to some of these slips. Close your eyes and tell the guy in the next cube to shut up a minute, and then sit
back and enjoy.
