Blogalicious Feature – Jen Leo’s Written Road

Travel writing is a tough business. It requires an amazing amount of fortitude,
discipline and tolerance for rejection (trust me). And there are so many people out there trying to ply the trade,
it sometimes seems like everyone you know wants to be paid to write and travel. After all, who wouldn’t?

Well, if you’re one who thinks you might make it some day as a travel writer, or are just curious about the life of
someone who’s trying to do it for a living, you might check out Jen Leo’s blog. Jen Leo is the author of
numerous of travel stories and the editor of the
humor compilation Sand in My Bra and Other Misadventures: Funny Women Write from the Road.  Her blog
writtenroad.com is one of my favorites. I like to tune into every couple of
days to get a little glimpse of the writer’s life by someone who’s living it. She’s not
Paul Theroux, but her writing is sharp and in its own way more
accessible (certainly less grouchy). She’s real, and her colorful, slice-of-life stories are just plain
fun.
