So big on everybody’s mind here are the tsunamis. Almost everyone I’ve talked to is hyping
their islands, mountains, rivers as the idyllic land of the non-tsunami. Everyone except the poor Sri Lankans, of
course, who’s booth was virtually empty. These women from Malaysia were eager to explain how their country is still
this wonderful place to go despite the fact it’s in Asia (apparently many Americans they’ve talked to must be under the
impression that the entire continent of Asia was devastated by the tsunamis…which wouldn’t surprise me.)
