A semester-at-sea ship was smacked by a rogue wave
last week as it sailed near Alaska. With 681 students, 113 faculty and staff, and 196 crewmembers on board, the ship
didn’t capsie, thank God, but those aboard said it was like an earthquake hit the ship. When the wave struck, it
blasted out windows and short-circuited electrical equipment. The Coast Guard sohwed up after being radioed and a
few broken bones were the extent of the injuries.
