Strange. It’s going to be a very big event, and yet how many of you have even heard of the
World Expo? Coming to Japan (that is, Osaka,
Aichi Prefecture) from March 25 to September 25, the 2005 World
Exposition is what the World Fair used to be. This year it is expected to attract some 15 million people. The theme
is Nature’s Wisdom and expo organizers are spending billions of dollars to construct a 427-acre park to hold all the
events displays.
Among the displays, should this be of any interest to the typical American uninterested in intenational events, are
a Forest Experience Zone where visitors can hike through woods, climb trees, and conduct nature experiments. Also the
Corporate Pavilion Zone (ohh, ahh), where human-like robots will do human-like things. Also, there will be on display a
car that can reach 361 mph. Sadly, you won’t be able to drive it. And then in one exhibit people can gather and try to
solve the world’s problems (one word: plastics!)
To be honest, I’d love to see the Expo.
