Yokoi’s Cave

You can find quite a few interesting stories on the webpages of
World Travel
, but of the few I took the chance to read today, this one stuck out.  The truthful tall tale found in Guam
about a World War II Japanese soldier who hid for 28 years in the jungle terrain from US forces.  Sergeant
Shoichi Yokoi was discovered in 1972 by local farmers.  Japanese tourists today can be found paying tribute
to the memorial and the museums dedicated to his resourcefulness to survive.  Something about the story
reminded me of the film ‘Cast Away.’  What did he do for all those years?
