Today’s CNN travel
section features a rather worthy of note story on the life of Ana Mendieta and her works. Born in Cuba and shipped to Iowa to bounce from foster homes, her art
clearly showcased her longing for identity and a connection to the natural world. The piece seen here is just one
of the awe-inspiring pieces from her collection being shown at the Des Moines Art Center now until May
22 until it moves to Miami later this fall. Not that it or something like it hasn’t been done before,
but because of the story and life that it surrounds.
