Remember the Abyss, the James Cameron film about aliens in the sea
that was really, really good until the last 10 minutes when that stupid ship emerged from the ocean bottom? Well, I
hope James Cameron’s newest foray into deep-sea diving is better. And, to be honest, I’m sure it will be. Cameron is
without a doubt one of my all-time heroes. He’s not only directed several of history’s greatest films (Aliens, True
Lies and Terminator), he is also a hard-core bona-fide deep sea explorer.
But give a listen to this story about Dijanna Figueroa, one of only a few African Americans working in marine biology,
and a person with a starring role in Cameron’s Aliens of the
Deep.
