Memoirs are so much fun to read on lazy weekends and though I haven’t picked this one up yet, it
sounds like a goodie from the long excerpt compliments of CBS
News. The book is
“Take Big
Bites,” by Linda Ellerbee. Though she warns us early off that she is by no means a chef, food or
travel writer she sure nails the topics pretty well. Ellerbee spent 14 years producing Nick News – a
children’s news program with serious intent and with this came the opportunity to be on the go.
That’s where we enter her life, but what it also gets into is topics on food and national treasures, like
the so called pig museum the Italian government doesn’t think recognize. For the reader we don’t
know what to expect in her travel tales chock-full of misadventures, but to provide you with a taste of
Ellerbee somewhere along the lines she: ate foods seasoned with hypocrisy, paid $500 for a ham-and-cheese sandwich in
Malaga, and could point you to the best fried egg sandwich you’ll ever have. In short it sounds like letting your
follies become the adventure. Bravo.
