A man. A plan. His son. 8,000 miles. 48 states. 16 days.
In a way, that pretty much says it all about
the trip James Dannenberg took with his son Alex and friend Jordan as they headed out in a four-door Chrysler to
see every state in the contiguous US. Inspired by Tim Cahill’s Road Fever, a book that has inspired a lot of us, the
story is a sort of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance for the ADD brigade. Not a lot of philosophizing, not much
reflection, just one hell of a lot off driving.
But you know what? I enjoyed this story. I suggest fathers and sons don’t get out together nearly enough in this day
and age, and what could bring the generations together better than one long 4-wheeled slog through the greatest country
on earth?
