I can’t say how terribly disturbed I am about the
missing teen in Aruba news. Last
thing anyone
wants is for their child to graduate high school, be sent off on a
wonderful, after-grad, island vacation and not come home. Shivers. I’m not here to report the breaking
news on such incidents, but it just makes me ponder two points: What might something like this do to the
quiet island’s tourism industry? Not much probably. Second, sometimes you got to let your kids travel alone
(painful, I know), but what makes a good guide for them to follow? Moving along…
CNN has a piece which
serves as a good starter guide for youth on the go. Most of the article touches on in-flight action and the
initial booking flights. Planning for the unexpected being the biggest issue pressed can bring up numerous topics
a parent might want to discuss with their child. Just thought something like this would be a good way to get
those wheels in the brain going, not to drive the worried parent into over-protected mode or to cast rolling-eyes from
know-it all children their way. Let’s just keep adventure travel, safe travel.
