It’s about time. United Airlines said they received regulatory approval from the FAA to
install wireless Internet
access within its fleet in a partnership with Verizon. They are the first domestic airline to get FAA approval to
do this, and that is a very good thing. Granted it will mean you might have to tolerate the joker next to you pounding
away on his keyboard the whole flight or (God forbid) surfing porn at 35,000 feet, but any way you look at it, this is
good news. It’s surprising in a way that United got it first since they seem to be lagging in the
cool-sh*t-you-do-while-flying arena. JetBlue is the airline that seems to be doing the most innovating lately. But good
for tyhem. Perhaps this will lure enough customers to help them forestall bankruptcy.
