It’s sad and it’s tragic and awful and all that. But doesn’t it seem obvious to you, given the nature of the
rides themselves, not to mention human nature, that someone is going to die every few years at Disneyland/world? I
mean, isn’t it the law of averages?
So, yes, this is a callous way of bringing
up this story about a kid who died on a ride at Disneyworld in Florida. What, exactly, happened is still a mystery.
But it is being said that the Disney World spaceship ride is “so intense” that some riders have been taken to the
hospital with chest pain. The ride, a giant centrifuge, apparently subjects visitors to twice the normal force of
gravity. This was enough to cause some damage to the boy’s chest/brain/something, and to lead to death. Ugh. That
really sucks. One feels sorry for the parents. But one does hope that thiis won’t lead to some safety-Nazi crack-down
on rides around the country.
