London Bombing: How Will It Affect Travel?

A couple of pieces today speculating on what effect the terrorist bombings in London will have on travel. The
New York Times says that airlines
fear the bombing could have a “deeper impact” than those in Madrid because so much more traffic goes through London, a
major European hub. The Times also says that there is a strong likelihood that business travelers would postpone trips
out of fear of more attacks. The Star-Tribune,
however, says that the bombings are likely to cause a “slight decline” in tourism and bookings, but that the effect
will be negligible.
Most agree that
travelers to the UK should expect tighter security and more delays, and they say that some airlines are being more
flexible should travelers want to change their plans if a London destination is involved.
