I absolutely heart culture blogs. Not only do they entertain, but they also enlighten the somewhat
pea-size container of information I already know about the subject matter in my
brain. India is one of those topics and to get down-right into the specifics, I’m bonkers for
Bollywood. It’s the second word after ‘namaste’ I
try to use to show my highly informed knowledge on everything India. After a couple of chuckles or some
eye-rolling I usually start with that old Ina Meena Dika song sung by Lata Mangeshkar. (Originally
sung by Kishore Kumar.) If that doesn’t gain any praise or a pat on the head at the least, I turn to the books
again.
If you are as into Desi culture like I am, which I really am, then you may wish to check out this awesome blog
on everything Desi. The blog is nicely titled Sepia
Mutiny, means brown uprising, a pun on the first widespread rebellion of the British Raj. Since we here at gadling
blog about travel I decided to check out their travel clips which I found some interesting stuff. I’m feeling
really kept in the dark after reading
some bits like this one on the
20 year old San-Diego native who set out a while back with a crew of filmmakers to document his
struggles as he tried getting through a four week stay in Bombay on $20 American dollars. His progress
on this rather silly yet exciting adventure/experiment can be
viewed here, but for a small fee.
I’ll have to invest in watching that later, but for now let’s all join in on learning something new about Desi
culture, thoughts, and things beyond Bollywood . That is, if you don’t already consider yourself a
guru.
