Yeah, we’ve got a bit of a New York fix to satisfy
today. We covered a few city bits, and now we’re taking you upstate.
The UK’s
Telegraph takes
a look at the Hudson Valley, probably the most accessible open countryside
available to New Yorkers, and place rich in history. The writer takes a few days to cruise through Columbia County and
to check out Hudson and some of the other wonderful small towns of the region, saying it is “as close to the Loire as
North America can get”, which is a pretty good line I’d not heard before. I head up the valley every so often myself,
especially when I drop into Peekskill to do some paddling at the kayak center there.
Also of note in the Valley, the Green Corn Festival is happening
this weekend at Philipsburg Manor.
