Bono for President

The cover of the
New York Times Magazine tomorrow will feature the
mug of U2’s lead singer Bono…certainly NOT the first time he has been featured on a cover of a magazine, but perhaps
one of the few times he has been featured NOT for his music, but for his humanitarian efforts.

The piece refers to Bono as “the world’s foremost agitator for aid to Africa”. Bono really does seem to be one of a
rare breed of celebrities who puts both his money and his time where his mouth is. He’s met with US Presidents and
other world leaders across the globe and has turned his passion for debt relief into vigorous action.

By all appearances, his activism is not some faddish escapade, like those that are so common among the Hollywood
set. The guy is real, and he is to be respected for it. The piece does a very good job examining the Bono phenomenon,
and my guess is you will come away both impressed and inspired.
