September is the new June

The NYT backed up my ongoing praise for fall pleasures
at the shore with

this piece
in yesterday’s paper about the growing number of September rentals in places like Bradley Beach and
Manasquan, NJ.

From Cape Cod to Florida, real estate agents have seen a steady increase in September rentals at beach locations.
The article mentions a variety of luxury spots, like Nantucket and the Hamptons, but notes that in general, more folks
up and down the eastern seaboard are choosing September over June or July, regardless of location.

Of course, the downside to all this is a rise in off-season rates, and sleepy beach towns that may not seem so
sleepy at times. But, for the most part, things are still quieter and cheaper than in-season.
