Looking for some new words to take on the road with you to describe the joys and pains of your
travels? Maybe you’re just in need of that one word to describe the ugly American in your
tour group who insisted on speaking Screamese to your local Vietnamese guide. You know the term and have seen
it in action far too often I’m sure. For those unfamiliar with Screamese, it is the loud form of English used only to
speak to foreigners. Though speaking a bit slower may help, repeating the same words in a loud tone of voice is just
inappropriate. Learn a couple of phrases in the country you’re traveling for crying out loud!
Ever see someone carrying on a piece of luggage far to big for the over-head compartment? You were probably
wandering why they couldn’t part without it (meaning they should have checked it in) and hoping the potential
large piece of scary-on didn’t get wedged above your seat. Can’t say I haven’t been guilty of this one myself,
but I had my reasons. Good ones too.
Anywho, Screamese, scary-on, and several other useful lexicons like business ass, frequent liar,
and sluggage can all be found here.
So the next time an unfavorable four letter word like F%!@ and S#*^ come to mind, thank the folks at

appropriate travel lingo to roll off your tongue.
