Airport Restroom Design

When I first visited the
new Southwest Terminal at Baltimore International
Washington Airport
earlier this year, I was pleased with the spacious modern design. But what impressed me the most
were the stalls in the woman’s bathroom — somebody was thinking! They are the largest stalls I’ve ever seen in an
airport, with plenty of room to maneuver the door, roll a carry-on right in and take care of business with lots of
extra space.

It may not be America’s Best Restroom, but it is a huge
improvement over the facilities in the older part of the airport. I checked the
Airport Forum, where travelers can weight in on what
they like and dislike about airports, but didn’t see any other raves for the new bathrooms on the
BWI page. You can learn more about the new
concourse in this glossy color PDF.
